Punjab kings pip Rajasthan Royals to victory!!!


                               

In the 8th match of the Indian Premier League played on April 5th, 2023, Punjab Kings defeated Rajasthan Royals by five runs at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. Punjab Kings won the toss and opted to bat first. They had a good start as the opening pair of Prabhsimran Singh and Shikhar Dhawan added 90 runs in just 9.4 overs. Prabhsimran Singh was dismissed for 60 runs off 34 deliveries, including seven boundaries and three sixes. Captain Shikhar Dhawan scored an unbeaten 86 off 56 balls, hitting nine fours and three sixes to guide his team to a competitive total of 197/4 in 20 overs. In response, Rajasthan Royals got off to a poor start, losing Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second over. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were reduced to 57/3 in the sixth over. Sanju Samson and Devdutt Padikkal steadied the ship with a 34-run partnership. However, Nathan Ellis struck twice in the 15th over to dismiss both batsmen and put Punjab Kings back in control. Shimron Hetmyer scored a quickfire 36 off 18 balls, but his run-out in the 19th over proved costly for the Royals. Dhruv Jurel played a brilliant cameo of 32* off 15 balls, but it was not enough as Rajasthan Royals finished their innings on 192/7 in 20 overs, falling five runs short of the target. For Punjab Kings, Nathan Ellis was the pick of the bowlers, taking four wickets for 28 runs in his four overs. Arshdeep Singh also picked up two wickets, conceding 47 runs in his quota of four overs. For Rajasthan Royals, Shimron Hetmyer was the top-scorer with 36 runs off 18 balls. In the end, it was a close match, but Punjab Kings held their nerves and emerged victorious. With this win, Punjab Kings move up to the top of the points table with four points from two matches, while Rajasthan Royals remain winless after two games. Shikhar Dhawan was awarded the player of the match for his brilliant unbeaten knock of 86 runs.

Titans crush Delhi Capitals with ease!!

  The Delhi Capitals suffered a crushing defeat against the Gujarat Titans, losing by 6 wickets with 11 balls remaining in the match. The Capitals were off to a decent start, but they failed to capitalize on it, with wickets falling at regular intervals. David Warner top-scored with 37 runs, but his innings lacked the acceleration needed to post a competitive total. Axar Patel played a quick cameo, but the Capitals could only manage a total of 162 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.   In response, the Titans got off to a flyer, with Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill scoring quickly. Although they lost a couple of wickets, Sai Sudharsan and Vijay Shankar stitched together a crucial partnership to put the Titans in control.
